About
My name is Augusto Boer Bront.
I´m an Italian armourer and artist based in Sweden. My main occupation is the recreation of historical armour, particularly from the XIVth and XVth century. In 2018 I graduated from the Master program in Fine Arts in HDK Gothenburg, where I combined the traditional craft technique of armour making with the contemporary art context. This gave me the chance to revive the lost art of armouring and present it to the modern audience though the lenses of art, hopefully making it more approachable and interesting. When working on historical armour, I try to keep the design and manufacturing process as historically accurate as possible, using tools and techniques that most resemble what our ancestors used as well. This means that I don´t employ modern technologies as arc welding or heating with a gas torch. I believe that using exclusively historical methods to recreate an historical reproduction increases the overall value of the artifact and gives it a deeper meaning. In my profession I try to keep an open mind on which applications my specific knowledge can be used for. I appreciate collaborating with other artists and manufacturers in different fields than mine, to explore which possibilities lie in armouring. |
