Magister Armorum

Steel Orchestra

In June on 2017 the master students group at HDK Steneby, of which I'm part of, was asked to make an exhibition about our work in the master program of Applied Arts. The theme was 3 square meters, the space that we gave ourselves to exhibit our work in the exhibition hall in Dals Långed, the village where the university facilities are situated. I decided to show my corpus of previous armouring work, between experiments, failed attempts and discarded pieces. Here is the description I gave to the piece.
"An ensemble of empty vessels. Or a group of failures from a busy workshop. Nearly a thousand hours worth of useless objects. A display of time, skill and patience. Yet, here they lay dormant. Maybe they will never be completed, forgotten in a dusty corner of a dusty forge. Maybe they will be picked up and given a new meaning and new life. For now, here they sleep."
It has been a great experience to work with my colleagues and to figure out the layout of the whole exhibition and the overall feeling that we wanted to give to it.
